Studying the 2025 civics test with flashcards
At the naturalization interview a USCIS officer asks the civics questions out loud and you answer out loud. Flashcards practise exactly that: you see only the question, answer it from memory, and then check yourself against the official answer. Reading a list of questions and answers feels easier than it is, because the answer is always in front of you.
Each card is drawn at random from the 128 official questions for this version of the test, so you cannot learn the answers by their order. The question is read aloud as the card appears, which also gives you practice hearing it the way the officer will ask it.
Mark a card as done when you can answer it without hesitating, and save the ones you miss for review. Both are kept in this browser, and they count towards your progress in the other study tools here.

2025 flashcards: common questions
What are civics flashcards?
A flashcard shows one official civics question on the front. You answer it from memory, then turn the card over to check the official answer. It is the quickest way to find out which questions you really know, because nothing on screen gives the answer away.
Are these the real citizenship test questions?
Yes. Every card uses the official USCIS wording for the 2025 test (128 questions) and the 2008 test (100 questions), with the official accepted answers on the back.
How should I use the flashcards?
Say your answer out loud before you turn the card, because the real test is oral. Mark a card done once you can answer it without hesitating, and save the ones that catch you out so you can come back to them.
Can I hear the questions read aloud?
Yes. Each question is read aloud automatically as its card appears, in a clear American or Canadian voice, and you can replay it or slow it down. The first card is silent until you click something on the page, because browsers block sound before that.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in this browser on this device. No account is needed and nothing is sent to us. Cards you mark done or save for review also show up in the other study tools on this site.
Which set of cards should I study?
Use the 2025 cards if you filed Form N-400 on or after October 20, 2025, and the 2008 cards if you filed before that date. Each set has its own page, linked above the card.
